Crude Oil : Is the bullish move over? (Ichimoku)

crude_oil_6_29_08_weekly.jpg

Crude Oil seems the main topic of the discussion in the markets today.    It is influencing the dollar, Fed decision, the financial markets, etc.    Everyone is guessing every day where crude oil may “top” out.   Let’s look at the charts and see what the charts are telling us instead of playing a “guessing” game.

Below is the weekly chart.    Since 3/23/07 when the tenkan/kijun sen crossed into a bullish mode, price has never gone below the Kijun Sen.   Therefore, the bullish trend will continue on a long term basis until price goes below the Kijun Sen.   Only then can we say the trend MAY be over.   All the Ichimoku indicators on the weekly timeframe are very “healthy”.  Since that date (66 weeks), the price of crude oil has moved over 129%.   Can it go higher?   It has the possibility of going high as long as price remains above the Kijun Sen.

Below is the daily chart for crude oil.   Friday’s price action caused the Tenkan/Kijun Sen to now start trending again.   If we have a higher close tomorrow, we may start to trend higher again.   Since 6/6/08 we have been …

The AUDNZD Currency pair looks like it may be finished with its pull back.   Therefore, the trade was entered at market with a tight stop.   This is a long term position.   Once price moves above the Tenkan Sen, we will use it as a stop (w/buffer).    With a little up movement, the Chikou may give us momentum for the bullish trend to continue.

6/9/08: Dow Future Trade/Market Update (Ichimoku)

Posted on June 9th, 2008 by
dow_futures_weekly_6-9-08.jpg

All four target levels were achieved last Friday for the Dow future trade.   The Tenkan sen on the 60 minute was never penetrated.    Depending on the type of trader, you would get out at one of the four target levels.   The trade is now ended since the fourth target level has been achieved.

Friday was a big drastic down day.    On the news, it says people were “panicking” and shouting “recession” again.   Be careful to everyone you hear.    Yes, last week was a big down week with Volume.    However, we do not listen to the emotions from the media to trade.   We look at the charts to see how people are reacting.

In order to get a long term view, we are going to examine the weekly chart of the Dow futures.     The down movement yesterday was exactly a .618  from March 21 inter-day low.     Also, notice the tenkan/kijun sen relationship is now bullish for the first time since  12/14/07 when it went bearish.   Price is also too far extended from the Tenkan Sen.   All the signs for Ichimoku show that on a weekly basis, we are consolidating with “wild” …

Didn’t expect the trade to occur soo fast…….     It is good for us since our S2 target is about to be reached.    This is a good place to recognize some profits with multiple positions were taken (educational use).    Typically, 50% of the trade is exited at this point.     The new stop is now 12558.   We are following the Tenkan Sen + 2 pt buffer on the 60 minute timeframe.

I am not going to keep on blogging every time the stop changes.  You can follow along with an Ichimoku chart on 60 minute timeframe.

dow_futures_6_6_08.jpg

All the markets drastically went up yesterday with higher then the average volume.    The up move yesterday could have been a “relieve rally” with some short covering at some point.   We not know and really will NEVER know.    We are going to setup a “Swing” Bearish trade based on the 60 minute Ichimoku charts.    We are going to have the markets prove to us that yesterday’s bullish move will be maintained.

Due to the huge move yesterday, we are going to keep our stop very tight.     Only 8 pts.

See chart below.

The Future trade is looking really good.     We are moving our stop to 1395 6/8 (aggressive).   The conservative traders, you got out yesterday locking in profits.     The aggressive trader outlook is more long term.   Therefore, we expect Soy to still show more bullish action.   It may do a pull back today due to the huge move yesterday but only time will tell.
