$Amzn Amazon drops on Earnings. Is it a good time to buy?

$Amzn Amazon drops on Earnings.  Is it a good time to buy?  Amazon had earnings last night and price dropped.    Right now, in pre-market, the price has gone from 818.36 to around 781.52.   Everyone was expecting a great quarter and that didn’t happen.    Two questions need to be answered here.   First, why was everyone expecting it to go up on earnings?   Second, what now?  Is it a good time to buy or sell?

Let’s deal with the first question.   What was the sentiment before earnings?

Here are the seasonal statistics provided by Alert Trades.  It was a 51% probability of going bullish with is not that great.  Almost, like “flipping a coin”.     Notice, for the last couple of years, it has been altering between bullish and bearish.   This year, it would be bearish.   Either way, there was nothing here to indicate that it was going to be bullish with high probability based on past statistics.  Let’s see if the charts gave anything.

Here is the Quarterly chart from eSignal.  It shows price moving up drastically with only minor pull backs so often.   Notice, the red line support …

SBUX at Weekly Support

Posted on October 17th, 2016 by
SBUX 10-17-2016 Weekly

Starbux (SBUX) opened the week below the Weekly SKB support after playing around there for many weeks prior.  The monthly is decidedly bullish.  Everyone needs their lattes no matter what the economy is doing. The week is just opened so I am going to be watching price action at this level of $53.03.

Already, the lower timeframes are starting to setup possible iMTF’s that could provide a low risk entry to play the Weekly support to hold.

What I would like to see is for price to break above these day and swing trading levels and then pull back to hold them as support for a bullish Call Option play.  We are still two weeks away from Earnings so depending on the timing volatility may be cheap enough for singles Call Options.

Two Types of charting for Futures – Adjusted and Un-Adjusted. See the Difference

Two Types of charting for Futures –  Adjusted and Un-Adjusted.  See the Difference.    Everyone relies on charting now in order to determine key Support/Resistance values.   Have you ever thought if the charts are “skewed”, it could be the difference between winning and losing?

For all US Futures, there are various different types of charts that could be produced for each individual Futures product.   Some of the Future products are $CL Crude Oil, $ES E-mini SP500, $C Corn, etc.  Did you know this?   Each chart will give you different types of Support/Resistance for the same indicator.   Huh?   What?   How can that be?

Let me illustrate by showing you the $ES Emini Sp500 future product for the weekly time frame with the Ichimoku indicator.

In this example, we will discuss two variations which are the main ones.    The first one we will discuss is the “un-adjusted” continuous future contract.    Here are the parameters for the “un-adjusted” contract:   Notice, all the various options that are available.    When this mode is choose, the charting vendor applies no “special” formula to price at all.  This is what we call the “raw” data.  In this …

$EEM vs $SPY Emerging Markets vs SPY ETF is at a critical point now

Posted on October 12th, 2016 by
2016-10-12_121235_eem_spy

$EEM vs $SPY Emerging Markets vs SPY ETF is at a critical point now.   A lot of people look at the $EEM Emerging market ETF vs $SPY SP500 ETF in order to gauge the US Stock markets vs Global markets.

In order to do the comparison, we are going to create a customized chart which shows one chart representing the relationship between the two.   On the chart, we will apply the Ichimoku Indicator for analysis.

Below is the customized Ichimoku weekly chart of the $SPY vs $EEM.   If price goes up, the $SPY is stronger than the $EEM and vice versa.

Price has been in the cloud and slowly getting to the yellow support indicating that the $EEM has been stronger than the $SPY since July.  $EEM has moved over 19.39% vs $SPY that has moved 9%. since July.

We are now at major critical support.    If the support breaks then $EEM will move another estimated 4.13% compared to the $SPY.   If the support holds, then the $SPY could move 7.10% more than the $EEM.

The probabilities are towards the bullish side.    This could be a good possible “pairs” trade for Q4CY2016.

If you …
